Property

Ami Simon

Joint Managing Director, Sydney

Ami joined Gresham in 2010 as Joint Managing Director of Gresham Property.  Prior to joining Gresham, Ami worked at Macquarie Bank for 12 years in various roles in the property business. His most recent role was as an Executive Director.  

Ami draws on his broad experience to manage all aspects of the Advisory business as well as vetting investments proposed by the Gresham managed funds. This experience includes establishing stand-alone project finance; setting and arranging debt syndicates; debt structuring and distribution; capital raising advice; senior, mezzanine and equity financing arrangements for property developments and existing assets.

Ami was also instrumental in the growth of Macquarie’s Real Estate lending platform including the establishment of its US and UK businesses which focused on the provision of enhanced senior debt and where his role included the structuring assessment and approval of the various loans made.

Ami’s experience transcends the entire life cycle for varying projects, from design and conception, establishing a financing plan, negotiation, structuring of documentation and execution, being a member of the PCG/board of investee companies, to completion and disposal of projects. 

Ami holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) / Bachelor of Laws and a Masters of Commerce (Finance) from the University of NSW.

Michael Burley

Joint Managing Director, Sydney

Mike joined Gresham in 2004 as Joint Managing Director of Gresham Property.

Mike is responsible for the groups management of funds raised from institutional investors. GPFM is a specialist fund manager focused on value added management of institutional capital invested in property assets.  Since 2002, GPFM has managed four property mezzanine debt funds and the current GPF5 fund.

Mike has a breadth of financing experience across property, project, infrastructure and structured finance, and has worked on 'all sides of the table' - at different times procuring, structuring, arranging and providing funding. He has developed and placed new securitisation products, raised capital for new funds and advised on the design and implementation of off balance sheet structures for listed companies.

Previously Mike was Director, Structured & Property Finance at BankWest – this group carried a loan book of over $3.5b of committed facilities in the real estate, private equity and infrastructure sectors. Before that he had roles as Principal responsible for Real Estate Capital Markets within Ernst & Young’s Estate & Hospitality Services Group - advising clients on capital raisings and funding structures and as Chief Executive of Lend Lease Project Finance – with a wide spectrum of responsibilities including development of off balance sheet funding structures for Lend Lease and its development partners.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney.

Alex Pascoe

Special Advisor, Sydney

Alex joined Gresham in 2012 as Special Advisor, consulting to the Gresham Property business in addition to his ongoing external role as Chief Operating Officer of a Sydney based residential developer / builder.

Prior to joining Gresham, Alex worked with Investec Bank (Australia) Limited for 8 years in various roles in the Structured Real Estate Finance business and 9 years in development with the CRI Group of Companies.  During that time, Alex was responsible for origination, structuring and management of property and funding transactions across the equity, mezzanine, senior debt and advisory space.

Alex’s experience includes a particular focus on development.  He has overseen completed real estate development with a capital value in excess of $1.4bn and advised on transactions with a capital value in excess of $2.3bn.  The scope of completed transactions includes a structured sale and leaseback of a $175m specialised portfolio for CSIRO to rezoning and joint venture of elements of a 330ha mid-western Sydney quarry asset for Boral to equity, mezzanine and senior debt funding for metropolitan residential, mixed use and commercial development assets.

Alex holds a Masters of Land Economics and Graduate Diploma (Urban Estate Management) from University of Technology Sydney, Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) from The Australian National University.

Stuart Skerman

Executive Director, Melbourne

Stuart joined Gresham in January 2011 and is based in Melbourne. Stuart also spent a number of months in 2010 as a consultant to the Gresham Property business. 

Stuart’s previous roles include Director - Real Estate Finance with the Royal Bank of Scotland in London and a Director - Property at the Bank of Ireland based in London. Prior to moving to London, Stuart worked for Macquarie Bank in the property finance team in Sydney and Brisbane.

Stuart’s experience includes a particular focus on development projects and funding.  He has been a board member on numerous joint venture developments with private and ASX listed REITs and landowning vehicles. 

Stuart has overseen completed real estate developments in Australia and the UK with total capital values in excess of $5.5bn and advised on transactions with capital values in excess of $3.0bn.

Stuart’s experience in Australia and the UK comprises of structuring and arranging bilateral, syndicated and club bank property development and investment transactions, the provision of senior debt, mezzanine and equity, establishment of the Royal Bank of Scotland’s first property mezzanine fund and joint venture property development finance. Stuart was responsible for managing a senior debt development portfolio of in excess of €700m which included 1,300 apartments under construction throughout greater London.

Stuart holds a Masters of Property (Distinction) from the University of Western Sydney and a Bachelor of Economics (Honours Class 1) from the University of Sydney.

Stuart also sits on the Mission Australia Housing Finance Advisory Council.

Charlie Robertson

Executive Director, Sydney

Charlie joined Gresham Property Funds Management in February 2014 as an Executive Director.

Charlie has more than 20 years’ experience in Property having held senior roles with Multiplex and the Toga Group.

Charlie’s experience in Property both in Australia and off-shore includes origination and project acquisition, development and project management from inception to completion, arranging senior debt, mezzanine and equity for property development.  Charlie has been engaged by private clients for a range of advisory assignments from portfolio reviews including acquisitions, divestments and development analysis. He has also been responsible for the establishment and management of property syndicates and funds.

Charlie holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Western Australia and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Bond University.
